Billy Miles I've been making art as long as I can remember. I started at a young age-4 or 5-drawing airplanes and cars on a paper grocery bag on the kitchen floor. My older brother gave me his hand-me-down paint by number kit and I tried it but didn't do very well at it (since I've never been very good at staying within the lines"). Nonetheless, that was my first experience with oil paints. I also remember that year for my introduction to science fiction, which continues to this day as a theme in my art.
I kept drawing and sketching, and occasionally painting in oils right up to my senior year in college. As I was winding down my academic studies, I chanced to go over to a friend's house to give him an old guitar. He reciprocated by giving me a box of acrylic paints.
For the next 25 years, acrylics were my medium of choice. I used them to produce landscape and "spacescape" paintings, and pet portraits. I dabbled in watercolors over the years, but about a year ago I began to get serious in mastering this demanding medium.
My subject matter and technique continue to be varied and I enjoy mixing abstract with realism in my paintings. I invite you to look at my paintings with the hope that you'll derive as much enjoyment from viewing my art as I did in creating it!
