Glenice Moore November 2007 "Save the Gorillas" "We all have certain talents for something and many of us get caught up in just trying to make a living with that talent. When I was born, the "Great Creator" instilled in me, a great love of all animals and also the compulsion to paint them. This I have done and have many times wondered, "why did this happen to me?". Now I know. I have always had a tremendous love of all animals but especially the Great Apes. I have been aware for many years of their plight and the fact that they are endangered with only 720 left in the wild. I happened to purchase the Aug.6, 2007 issue of Newsweek Magazine and was heartbroken after reading the story about the blatant murder of almost an entire family of Gorillas. I was inspired by this story more than I have ever been before so I painted this painting in the memory of Senkekwe and am launching a campaign to raise funds to help in the preservation and protection of the Mountain Gorillas. All proceeds will go to the DIANE FOSSEY MOUNTAIN GORILLA PROJECT." "THERE IS NO NATURAL DEVASTATION THAT CAN COMPARE TO THE CRUEL, THOUGHTLESS AND SHAMELESS DEVASTATION THAT IS DONE BY MAN" |
